OSHA VPP Star Site
Chocolate Bayou Polymers Plant has earned the prestigious Star status for its attention to safety. Star sites are those recognized by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program for outstanding workplace safety performance and processes.
Caring for Texas Award
The Texas Chemical Council has honored the plant with several Caring for Texas Awards and a Distinguished Service Award for exemplary results, ongoing commitment to safe operations, and continuous improvement in community awareness, emergency response, security and pollution prevention.
NPRA Awards
The plant also has been recognized for outstanding safety performance by the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, receiving an Award for Meritorious Safety Performance, a Gold Award and an Award for Safety Achievement.
Community Alert System
The Chocolate Bayou Polymers Plant uses the Chocolate Bayou Community Awareness Emergency Response Line, or CAER Line, to alert residents and businesses to an event at the facility. This toll-free line may be reached at 1-877-394-2237 (877-FYI-CAER). If a shelter in place was required, residents would stay inside, close doors and windows and turn off air conditioners or heaters.
