Explore & Experiment Showcases Fun Science Experiments

CINCINNATI, Ohio – January 26, 2016 – Science, technology, engineering and math courses often take center stage in today’s schools. This presents a prime volunteering opportunity for employees from the Cincinnati Technology Center of LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, to showcase the Company’s Explore & Experiment program.

“I’m passionate about teaching students and educators the importance of science because it plays such an important part of our lives,” said Amy Weiskittel, LyondellBasell principal researcher. “We also make sure to tailor our experiments to specific grades so students of all ages are engaged.”

In 2015, LyondellBasell employees volunteered at more than 20 events in the Cincinnati area reaching 5,700 students, teachers and parents. During Mason Intermediate School’s 12th Annual Math & Science Night, staff from LyondellBasell performed experiments and taught scientific concepts, such as the chemical properties of liquid nitrogen and dry ice to more than 1,000 attendees.

“Our facility is a research and development center, which makes science and technology an integral part of our job,” Weiskittel said. “We enjoy sharing that aspect to the next generation of future scientists.”

Explore & Experiment is a trademarked program and was originally developed by LyondellBasell employees to present various science experiments and demonstrations in U.S. classrooms to show how science is part of our everyday lives.
