Volunteers Beautify St. Rita School for the Deaf

LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Sept. 22, 2015 – Employees from the LyondellBasell Cincinnati Technology Center and their families spruced up St. Rita School for the Deaf as part of the Company’s annual Global Care Day. Volunteers beautified the campus by cleaning different areas of the school, assembling crafts, decorating classrooms and assisting with landscaping upgrades.

 “Global Care Day is important to our school because the work being performed involves tasks our teachers and staff can't get to because of their work with the students,” said Greg Ernst, St. Rita School for the Deaf executive director. “Now our teachers and staff can focus on the students and enjoy a more pleasant daily environment.”

 The Company's 16th annual Global Care Day encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers are investing their time and talents on projects in the areas of education, health and the environment – the core focuses of our Elements of Engagement community philanthropy strategy.

 “Being able to give back to those less fortunate is something our employees take great pride in,” said Ronald Gregory, Cincinnati Technology Center lead laboratory associate. “I’m proud to work for a company that is willing to help out in the community.”

 St. Rita School for the Deaf is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The school’s purpose is to educate students who need special methods of communication in a safe and value-oriented environment.

 “This event is great for our school and LyondellBasell to come together and provide a much needed service to the community,” Ernst said. “It's also an opportunity for everyone to learn more about our organization and see why volunteering is so important.”
