The LyondellBasell Houston Refinery produces transportation fuels which includes Gasoline, Diesel and Jet Fuel. The refinery also produces feedstocks for our chemical plants which includes naphtha, liquid petroleum gas, butylenes and propylenes. It began operation in 1918 which makes it the oldest site within LyondellBasell and first refinery on the Houston Ship Channel
The refinery is an integral part of the Houston economy where workers live and shop in the area for local goods and services. The property taxes paid by LyondellBasell help support the local schools and government services. The Houston Refinery supports the community through donations to organizations such as The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, The Houston, Galena Park and Pasadena ISD Education Foundations, Pasadena Police Department, Sarah's House and Houston East End Chamber Foundation.
The safety of the community, operations and our employees is a primary focus. The Houston Refinery aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product safety incidents and zero environmental incidents. The LyondellBasell GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.
