Volunteers Participate in Company’s 15th Annual Global Care Day
LyondellBasell Lansing Business and Technical Center employees descended upon Impressions 5 Science Center to educate children on plastic by showcasing displays and conducting lab experiments, while also providing landscaping maintenance as part of the company’s Global Care Day. The event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day.
“We are thankful for the support and hard work provided by LyondellBasell,” said Impression 5 Executive Director Erik Larson. “The Science Center received some much needed TLC and excellent hands-on activities for our guests from a wonderful group of volunteers.”
For the company's 15th annual Global Care Day, volunteers in 20 countries on six continents demonstrated their commitment to their neighborhoods on Saturday, May 17.
“Impression 5 has been a key player in engaging young people with scientific exploration for more than 40 years,” said Lansing Business and Technical Center Employee Sarah Lackey. “We are glad to support their efforts to continue this valuable service to our community.”
Over the past 15 years, approximately 25,900 LyondellBasell employees and their families have donated more than 162,800 volunteer hours supporting their communities on Global Care Day.
“Initiatives like Global Care Day are monumental in assisting nonprofits achieve their mission,” Larson said. “These partnerships allow us to have a big impact on our community.”
Resources at our Lansing facility are dedicated to the business management, product development, technical analysis and commercialization of polypropylene-based compounded materials. Its labs conduct application development and performance testing for automotive and other durable goods applications in North America. The facility is equipped to evaluate physical properties, paint durability and environmental performance. A polymers fabrication center prepares material samples and molded specimens for the test procedures.
