Volunteers Help Animal Shelter in Lansing

LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change
LANSING, Mich. – Oct. 12, 2015 – LyondellBasell Lansing Business and Technical Center employees and their families donated their time and efforts at the “Walk for the Animals” at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge as part of the Company’s annual Global Care Day. Volunteers assisted in all aspects of the event from set up to tear down, working the doggie obstacle course, manning water stations and guiding the walk route.
“For our Global Care Day event, we wanted a project where our employees could give back to help innocent animals who end up in the shelter at no fault of their own and to also help this worthy organization raise funds for those veterinarians and regular volunteers that need money to continue doing this work,” said Elizabeth Hertrich, Lansing Business and Technical Center customer specialist.
The Company's 16th annual Global Care Day encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers are investing their time and talents on projects in the areas of education, health and the environment – the core focuses of our Elements of Engagement community philanthropy strategy.
“I feel I am very blessed to have the things I have and I want to be able to give back to the community,” said Hertrich. “I try to volunteer as much as I can because not everyone has as much as I do.”
