The LyondellBasell (LYB) Lake Charles team proudly accepted the Clean Biz Leadership Award from Keep Louisiana Beautiful at the Everyday Hero Awards luncheon, Thursday, Oct. 24. Lake Charles site employees attended the event to receive the award, recognizing the site’s outstanding efforts in promoting sustainability and community improvements.
According to Louisiana’s largest litter study, 92% of Louisianians believe litter is a problem and the recycling rate in the state is comparatively low. The Everyday Hero Awards celebrate businesses, organizations and individuals who adopted operational practices to demonstrate a commitment to addressing litter and waste in Southwest Louisiana. This year, LYB stood out for its contributions to being leaders in efforts to help end plastic waste and develop sustainable solutions, through its daily operations.
The Clean Biz Leadership Award is presented to organizations with more than 50 employees demonstrating a strong commitment to Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s mission. LYB earned this recognition through its comprehensive approach to environmental stewardship, including a robust, site-wide recycling program, “Spotlight on Sustainability” newsletter and involvement in community-driven environmental initiatives and events.
“Sustainability is critical in ensuring a future for my children and generations to come,” said Priscilla Carriere, product quality analyst and sustainability communications chair, Louisiana Integrated PolyEthylene Joint Venture (LKO). “One of the most impactful ways we contribute toward a better tomorrow is by recycling and ending plastic waste. I am incredibly proud of the progress the site has made I and am excited about the future initiatives the team plans to implement.”
The team’s efforts extend beyond operational practices. LYB actively supports community improvements through financial contributions, volunteerism and various environmental programs. This holistic approach demonstrates the company’s role as a leader in corporate responsibility and conservation.
Lake Charles employees have been instrumental in driving these initiatives. By participating in activities that promote environmental awareness and action, they helped foster a culture of sustainability within the company and the community they call home.
“At LYB, our employees aim to be leaders in the efforts to end plastic waste and develop sustainable solutions. We are honored to receive the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Clean Biz Leadership Award, and we look forward to continuing our partnerships with local communities to support a thriving society in Southwest Louisiana,” said Armando Lara, LKO site manager.
The Clean Biz Leadership Award from Keep Louisiana Beautiful inspires continued dedication to sustainability, reinforcing our commitment to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. This is a proud moment for LYB and a reflection of the hard work and dedication of its employees.
