LyondellBasell celebrated the groundbreaking of the site’s state-of-the-art Laboratory and Office Complex at the company’s Corpus Christi Plant on November 16, 2022. The event commemorated the beginning of construction of the $45 million investment for the 45,000 square-foot facility.
“The development of this land creates an integrated facility that will enhance our operation and the positive impact we have in the community,” said Mike Middleton, Corpus Christi Plant Manager. “ I could not be more pleased with the work of our employees, project team and architects in the development of this brilliant facility and thank them for the excellent work. We are thrilled to begin this next stage of construction.”
Upon completion, the newly built Laboratory and Office Complex will feature an enhanced Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state-of-the-art laboratories and administrative offices – providing an economic resource that will continue to house local jobs and showcase the investment that LyondellBasell has made into the Corpus Christi Plant.
It’s estimated that the facility will complete construction by the fall of 2024.
“All of this provides a great deal of positive economy for our community,” said Mike Pusley, Councilmember At Large for the City of Corpus Christi. “Over 90,000 jobs in the Coastal Bend come from industry and it’s a very important part of what we do here.”
As a global chemical leader, LyondellBasell believes it’s important to continue investing into the Corpus Christi Plant and into the dedicated team of 370 employees and contractors who all play a part in the production of items and materials we use every day.
